BBC News Chinese Officially Launches On The News Lens, Providing Diverse and In-Depth International Perspectives
2022/07/26To better serve our readers, The News Lens has officially launched an agreement to share articles and illustrations from BBC News Chinese. The agreement will take effect in July 2022. BBC News Chinese provides objective, timely, and accurate articles and analyses, closely follows the global pulse, and further enriches the international perspective that TNL has been cultivating for years.
Since our founding in 2013, The News Lens has been guided by the core value of inspiring ideas through multiple perspectives and broadening horizons with different voices. We are committed to providing readers with diverse perspectives, on not only political and social issues in Asia, but also international viewpoints. Simplifying complex issues, making them easier to understand without sacrificing nuance, is another core commitment.
Operating by these principles has not slowed our growth. We have launched various new products and services over the years. An international English language and Southeast Asia edition launched in 2015. A livestream talk show featuring famous news anchor Jennifer Shen and leading edge podcast “Drink With Mario” followed in 2017. Another highlight is the YouTube channel “World View,” one of the few channels dedicated exclusively to international news when it launched in 2018.
Recently, our podcasts and digital interactive pages won 2022 SOPA Editorial Awards, known as “Pulitzer Prize of Asia,” adding to TNL’s belief in honest reporting and trustworthiness, making us further aligned with the values of BBC News Chinese.
Joey Chung, co-founder and CEO of TNL Media Group said, “From a small website to a media group with eight brands and 10 subsidiaries, we’ve followed the concept of independent media all along the way. By cooperating with the international media giant BBC News Chinese, we’re now one more step closer to our blueprint: becoming one of the best media companies in the Chinese language world.”
Mario Yang, co-founder and chief content officer said, “TNL advocates for diverse, in-depth reports. In addition to mainstream topics, we also focus on issues with international significance but receive less attention in Taiwan, such as LGBT issues and how climate change has changed shipping routes. The cooperation with BBC NEWS Chinese not only completes the offerings of TNL, but also provides readers with a unique international perspective.”
The News Lens is affiliated with TNL Media Group. The Group’s other brands include INSIDE, Sports Vision, Cool3c, everylittled, Becoming Aces, Agent Movie, Ohsowow, and Business Yee. From 2019 to 2021, TNL Media Group has successively acquired big data market research company EK2A, digital advertising company AD2, S.C. Communications Integrated Marketing, and launched DaEX Intelligent (a joint venture of TNL Media Group and AccuHit). With 18 million domestic and foreign monthly users and 50 million page views, TNL Media Group has become the most trusted partner for readers and corporate marketing and digital transformation in the Asian market.
